RULES

  1. All entries must be attached to the jars (not to the lids), elastic bands
  2. Entries may be shown in an appropriate sized jar, but there are no size
  3. Omit using paraffin or Please use new lids.
  4. All entries will be disqualified unless properly
  5. New exhibitor or anyone who did not show in Class 28 in 2019 or 2022, mark tag “New Exhibitor”on the
  6. All entries must be labeled with product name and date of
  7. All entries must have been prepared within one year of judging
  8. All other rules of Homecraft Division

1ST: $4.00 2ND: $3.00 3RD: $2.00

SECTION: JAM & JELLIES

  1. Strawberry freezer jam
  2. Strawberry jam
  3. Raspberry jam
  4. Blueberry jam
  5. Pepper jelly – any variety
  6. Marmalade of your choice
  7. Sweet jam of your choice, not listed above (named)
  8. Sweet jelly of your choice, not listed above (named)
  9. Savory jam or jelly of choice (named)

 

SECTION: PICKLES & PRESERVES

  1. Pickles, dill
  2. Pickled beets
  3. Chili sauce
  4. Relish of your choice
  5. Pickled vegetable or fruit of your choice, not listed above (named)
  6. Preserved fruit of your choice, not listed above (named)
  7. Salsa, mild
  8. Pickles – Bread and Butter

 

SECTION: SPECIALS

  1. Gift Basket – Must contain a collection of jam, relish, salsa or jelly, along with appropriate gifts (crackers, biscuit mix, tea ) Not to exceed $20.00 value. Judges select winner based on creativity, quality of home canned product, perceived value and appropriateness of presentation. Prize: Rosette ribbon and $20.00, donated by Ron Lisk Culverts.
  2. Best of Show Award – selected from all regular 1ST prize $30.00 plus rosette prize ribbon.
  3. Jam/Jelly Award – selected from all jam/jelly 1ST prize $20.00 plus rosette prize ribbon.
  4. New Exhibitor (anyone who did not show in class 28 in 2019 or 2022) with most points. Prize donated by Alison Preiss.
  5. Exhibitor with most points in class 28. Prize: $15.00. Donated by the Beeton Agricultural Society.

 

SECTION: MAPLE SYRUP

Rules: Maple Syrup is to be in a small mason jar (1) pint or less, properly tagged. Please include variety of source where possible. Exhibitor is responsible for putting maple syrup in proper category.

Prizes for section 23-25: 1ST: $5 2ND: $4 3RD: $3 Donated by the Beeton Agricultural Society

  1. Maple Syrup – light
  2. Maple Syrup – dark (amber)
  3. 3 pieces of maple sugar, candy or product

 

SECTION: HONEY

Rules: All Honey is to be in a small mason jar (1) pint or less, properly tagged. Please include variety of source where possible. Exhibitor is responsible for putting honey in proper category.

Prizes for section 26-29:

1ST: $6.00 2ND: $4.00 3RD: $3.00

  1. Canada 1 – Liquid Light Honey
  2. Canada 1 – Liquid Golden Honey
  3. Canada 1 – Liquid Amber Honey
  4. Comb Honey – 1 piece, appropriately displayed

 

SECTION: EGGS

Rules: In Egg Class, judge will open 1 egg. All eggs must be clean, without obvious blemishes or cracks. Exhibitor may not enter more than one type of the same variety and colour.

1ST: $4.00 2ND: $3.00 3RD: $2.00

  1. 1 dozen brown eggs in a carton, show name of breed on entry tag
  2. 1 dozen white eggs in a carton, show name of breed on entry tag
  3. Largest chicken egg, display in egg cup
  4. Smallest chicken egg, display in egg cup
  5. Any egg other than chicken
