2022 PLANTS AND FLOWERS CLASS 26

RULES

  1. All flowers in sections 1-28 must be grown by exhibitor.
  2. Arrangements, not necessary to be grown by exhibitor.
  3. All plants must be at least 3 months old, one plant per pot unless otherwise specified.
  4. Exhibitor to supply own container.
  5. Count blooms carefully, no more, no less. Buds showing colour count as a bloom.
  6. Let’s see plants larger than the pots.
  7. Be a neat and tidy exhibitor.
  8. Cut flowers must be shown with own foliage.
  9. Height of arrangement should be at least 1 ½ times the size of the container.
  10. No artificial flowers or plants, and no luster spray to be used.
  11. Tag to be placed at front of arrangement.
  12. New exhibitor or anyone who did not show in 2018 or 2019, mark tag “New Exhibitor” on the front.
  13. All other rules of homecraft division apply.

  15. Container not to exceed 12” top (does not apply to arrangements).

 

SECTION – CUT FLOWERS

PRIZES FOR SECTION 1-28: 1ST: $2.00. 2ND: $1.50. 3RD: $1.00.

  1. Asters – 5 stems included
  2. Marigolds – 5 stems
  3. Hosta Leaves – 3 Medium width 2”-5” same variety
  4. Sedum – Tall stems , 5 stems
  5. Dahlia – decorative, 1 bloom, any colour
  6. Dahlia – 3 stems, common variety, any colour
  7. Gladiolus – 1 spike in suitable container
  8. Hosta Leaves – 3 same variety
  9. Anemone – 3 stems, same variety
  10. Salvia – 1-3 stems, any colour
  11. Bouquet of sunflowers 1-5 stems
  12. Rose – 1 spray
  13. Rose – single floating in maximum 6 inch bowl
  14. Snapdragon – 3 stems
  15. Amaranth – 1 stem
  16. Hydrangea – 1 stem
  17. Phlox – 1 spray
  18. Zinnias – 5 mixed colour in container
  19. Any other cut flower not listed above – 1-5 stems named

 

SECTION – PLANTS

  1. Sansevieria (Snake Plant) Maximum 10” diameter pot
  2. Strawflower – any colour, maximum 10” diameter pot
  3. Coleus – maximum 10” diameter pot
  4. African Violet in container
  5. Cactus or Succulent – maximum 6” diameter pot
  6. Any foliage houseplant, maximum 6” diameter pot
  7. Potted Herb garden – 4 varieties
  8. Forced branch in leaf – maximum 24”, in suitable container
  9. Terrarium, not to exceed 12” in height or width

 

SECTION – ARRANGEMENTS

PRIZES FOR SECTION 29-35: 1ST: $4.00. 2ND: $3.50. 3RD: $3.00.

  1. “Garden Feast’”, arrangement of flowers and accessories using a vegetable or fruit as a container
  2. “Mini Magic”, miniature arrangement not to exceed 5” in any direction
  3. “September Song”, arrangement from the last of your flower garden, not to exceed 12” high or wide
  4. “Thanksgiving Table”, centrepiece including candle(s), maximum 14” in length
  5. “Gone to Seed”, special design including seed pods, grasses, etc, using fresh or dried material
  6. “Rise & Shine” – An arrangement in a Coffee Mug
  7. “Canadian Autumn”, a design reflecting fall colours
  8. SPECIAL – Fair Theme – “Family Tradition” arrangement. Prizes: 1st -$20.00; 2nd $15.00, 3rd – $10.00. Donated by the BEETON AND DISTRICT AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.
  9. Fine Dining”, an arrangement for a formal dining room table, not to exceed 12” in any direction, using fresh flowers. Prizes: 1st – $20.00; 2nd – $10.00; 3rd – $5.00, donated by the BEETON AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.
  10. “Fall Glory”, an arrangement using leaves and accessories. Prize: 1st – $15.00; 2nd – $10.00, donated by BEETON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
  11. “Best of Class for Cut Flowers”, section 1-19: Prize: $20.00 Donated by BEETON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
  12. “Best of Class for Plants”, section 20-28: Prize: $15.00 Gift Certificate donated by REDHEAD’S BLOOMING BEDS, ALLISTON.
  13. “Best Flower Arrangement”, section 29-35: Prizes: 1st – $25.00; 2nd -$15.00.
  14. “Home Sweet Home”, an arrangement for a new home, maximum 12” in height and width. Prize: 1st – $20.00; 2nd – $10.00.
  15. New Exhibitor (anyone who did not show in Class 26 in 2018 or 2019) with the most points. Prize: $30.00, donated by TEC-WE-GWILL WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.
  16. Exhibitor with most points in Class 26, Prize: $20.00 Donated by BEETON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
