Rules for 2008

1. There will be no exhibitor’s fee in any class, but exhibitors will pay admission at the gates.
2. 15% of the prize money won in the Livestock section will be retained by the Society.
3. In case of bad weather, or any unforeseen circumstances, the Society only binds itself to pay as much pro rata of prize money as is consistent with the receipts.
4. No prize money will be paid by the Treasurer until the Directors meet after the Fair.
5. Persons not drawing their prize money by the 2nd day of December 2008 will forfeit the same to the Society.
6. Exhibits may be placed in the Exhibit Hall on Thursday, September 11, 2008 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. or on Friday, September 12, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. No late entries will be accepted. Judging commences at 12:30 p.m. All exhibits must be the work of the exhibitor.
7. All hall exhibits must remain until 5:00 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2008.
8. All livestock must be on the grounds and in their proper place before 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2008. They must remain on the grounds until 5:00 p.m. or prize money will be forfeited.
9. All livestock exhibitors must present a Certificate of Liability Insurance for at least $1,000,000 coverage.
10. All exhibits must be owned by the exhibitor. All grain, hay, seeds, vegetables, etc. must be grown by the exhibitor.
11. No person shall be awarded more than one prize for any animal or kind of article, grains, vegetables, roots or produce, whether exhibited in the same class or not, except in cases of pens or herds and extra prizes.
12. No person shall be entitled to exhibit the same animal for any more than one prize in any section or class except in pens, herds and extra prizes.
13. No article or animal entered for competition shall necessarily entitle the owner to a premium unless deemed worthy of a prize by judges and so awarded.
14. Bulls must be properly secured by ring in the nose or otherwise to prevent accidents, or they will not be allowed on the grounds.
15. Suitable pens will be provided for sheep.
16. No person or persons will be allowed to interfere with the judges, while in charge of their duties, by conversation
or otherwise.
17. No person will be allowed to act as a judge in any class in which he is an exhibitor.
18. Any person changing or removing entry tickets from goods or exhibition, or in any way attempting to defraud any exhibition, shall be subject to a fine from $1.00 to $100.00 or ten days imprisonment on conviction thereof.
19. Any exhibitor who may feel aggrieved from any cause, other than the decision of the judge, can protest against the same at any time within ten days by giving the protest in writing to the secretary (and a deposit of $10.00 which will be forfeited if protest is not proven), whose duty it will be to lay the same before the Directors at their first meeting. Any member of the Board of Directors may protest against anything he/she sees wrong.
20. No person shall exhibit on the days of the Fair any games, theatrical, circus, mountebank or show of any description nor shall any person traffic in drinks or dispose of goods, wares, or merchandise within three hundred yards of the exhibiting grounds unless by special permission.
21. Every precaution will be taken to ensure the safety of the exhibits. However, if any exhibit is accidentally injured, lost or stolen, the Society will not be held responsible or make any payment for such property.
22. All exhibitors must have their own insurance and be prepared to show proof when asked. Every exhibitor must sign the Hold Harmless Agreement (reverse side of entry form).
23. All trucks should enter by way of Centre St. to Prospect St. to Second St. and north to the East Park gate. Tecumseth St. and Prospect St. will be closed.
24. The Society will not hold itself responsible for any printer’s error or other palpable errors in this prize list.
