Rules
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!
1. The grade a student is in at the first of June 2008 is the grade section under which he/she will submit entries (Exception -students entering kindergarten in September 2008 may enter exhibits in the ‘Kindergarten’ section).
2. All exhibits must be the original work of the student.
3. All entries will be judged on originality of idea, creativity, and overall effect.
4. If entry is not worthy of prize, judges may disqualify.
5. Exhibitor allowed only one entry in each section.
6. Judge’s decision will be final.
7. Exhibits are placed in classes at the owner’s risk.
8. Blue tickets must be filled out for each entry. At the top (visible) print the class, section number and the name of the article. At the bottom pupil’s name and school should be printed and the tab folded up so as to cover. INCOMPLETE ENTRY TICKETS WILL NOT BE JUDGED.
9. Entries sent from home, independent from school, MUST HAVE FULL NAME AND MAILING ADDRESS on blue ticket in place of school name. This will insure prize money will be sent by mail.
10. Please use only the blue entry tags for the school exhibits.
11. All work to be entered in September.
12. All entries must be delivered to the Beeton Arena on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008 between 7:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. or Friday, September 12, 2008 between 8:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
13. No exhibits are to be removed from the hall until 5:00 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2008.
14. If a school representative does not pick up exhibits by 6:00 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2008, they may be claimed on Monday, September 15, 2008, between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Beyond that time, the school committee will not be responsible for school items.
15. NOTE: Parents, encourage children, but take no part in their work.
16. Teachers are asked to check that their students (especially in lower grades) are entering exactly what is specified in each section.
17. Pictures do not require mounting (to conserve paper) but will not be disqualified if mounted.
TROPHIES & Awards
A Mel Mitchell Memorial Plaque - This plaque will be presented to the school accumulating the most points in the school section. It will be presented at the opening ceremonies and will be held by the winning school until the next fair and then be returned to the Fairboard. Points will be awarded as follows: 1st - 5; 2nd - 4; 3rd - 3; 4th - 2; and 5th - 1. In Addition, the winning school will be presented a monetary award of $350.00 to go to the school library to be used towards the purchase of a school need other than those supplied by the Board. The gift has generously been donated by Honda of Canada Manufacturing.
B INDIVIDUAL TROPHIES -
1. Junior 2. Intermediate 3. Senior
A trophy will be awarded to the pupil accumulating the most points in the Junior, the Intermediate and the Senior divisions. This will include the handwork, specials, home economics, flowers and vegetables.
Points will be awarded as follows: 1st - 5; 2nd - 4;
3rd - 3; 4th - 2; and 5th - 1.
KINDERGARTEN
Prizes for sections 1-20: $3.00; $2.00; $1.25; $1.10; $1.00
1. Printing: Your own first name, on lined or unlined paper.
2. Picture: Theme -“Flowers” - draw and colour a picture of a flower or flowers, any media.
3. Craft: ‘Torn paper’ - use pieces of torn paper glued onto construction paper to make a picture.
4. Picture: Theme - “Me and a Pet”, draw and colour a picture of yourself and a your pet or a pet you would like to have, any media.
5. Craft: Make a farm animal from a stuffed paper bag.
GRADE ONE
6. Printing: In pencil on lined paper:
I like coming to the Fair
7. Picture: Draw a picture of yourself doing something to help out at home, any media.
8. Craft: Make a folded paper fan, draw a design on it, make it colourful.
9. Picture: Draw a picture of a building(s) that you would see in your community (i.e. house, barn, firehall, school), any media
10. Craft: Make a macaroni craft.
GRADE TWO
11. Printing: In pencil, on lined paper, this poem by S. Silverstein:

12. Picture: Draw a picture showing a use for water (i.e. cooking, washing, drinking), any media
13. Craft: Make a fall decoration

GRADE THREE

GRADE FOUR

Rules
1. The submission MUST be the original creation of the student in his/her grade eight/seven year in the month of the Beeton Fall Fair.
2. Topic(s) may be the student’s own choice.
3. The Short Fiction should be a minimum of 250 to 500 words in length.
4. All grade eight/seven students may submit one piece of Short fiction and/or one Poem.
5. Submissions must be on 81/2” x 11” (letter size) paper and must be neatly and legibly written, printed or typed.
6. Illustrations are not necessary.
7. The principal of each school must receive the entries by 4:00 p.m. the day preceding the opening day of the Beeton Fall Fair.
8. (a) The best submissions in each of the four categories are to be forwarded to the Convener of the School Section by 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 13, 2008, at the Beeton Arena.
(b) Eligible students may also submit entries independently to the Convener of the School Section by 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 13, 2008, at the Beeton Arena.
